So, I’ve started redesigning the Lunar Homestead website. The goal is to streamline things and to remove old content that isn’t relevant anymore.
You may have noticed that a lot of posts have disappeared. You would be correct. I had put a lot of content on the website as posts when they really should have been pages. I’m in the process of fixing that but it’s going to cause big gaps to appear in the posting record.
Lunar Homestead is going to focus on two primary activities:
- Researching the technology and techniques needed for permanent Lunar settlement. However, this tech isn’t your standard NASA high-tech super-expensive hardware. Lunar Homesteaders are going to need durable equipment that they can maintain and build themselves using locally available Lunar resources.
- Creating content and training to prepare future Lunar Homesteaders so they can go when the tech is ready. Right now, most people believe that only government astronauts, highly trained corporate employees, or the super-rich can go to the Moon. With Lunar Homesteading tech, anyone can create a settlement on the Lunar Frontier. We just have to get people to change their paradigm.
Previously, Lunar Homestead had a component where I encouraged people to help with the tech research. It was called Crew-led research. And it was a failure. The handful of people that expressed an interest in doing research flaked out over time. Now, Lunar Homestead is encouraging people to become Research Partners. This way, they do their own research and Lunar Homestead helps. That way I’m not relying on anyone to actually do any work.
Anyway, I’ve still got a lot of work to do on the site. However, I need to start making progress on research and training content. It’s probably going to take me a couple of months before the website is exactly where I want it.
Please send me an email at email@example.com if you have any ideas or comments. Or if you are interested in the Lunar Homestead concept and want to help.
