Crew-Led Research Update

Research is a core component of the LH mission. There’s a lot we need to figure out. And there just isn’t the desire or funding for substantial government and corporate research into these topics. Here’s what we’ve been working on.

  1. Is there basalt readily available near either lunar pole? If basalt is confined to the mare then I believe that the closest mare to either pole is mare frigoris near the north pole.

    • You’re right. The nearest large source of mare basalt to the poles would be Mare Frigoris. Everyone is hyperfocused on Lunar ice but any settlement is going to use far more basalt than ice in it’s growth. And it’s easier to transport water (or just the hydrogen) than it is to transport basalt.
