Lunar Iron Project Update 2

Update - Still working!

Hi there. Just wanted to let you know I’m still working on this project.

Work on the project today:

  • Updated the Lunar free iron post – I was reading the Lunar Sourcebook last night and I learned that asteroidal contamination isn’t the only source of free iron in the Lunar regolith. Apparently, impact events (even small ones) produce enough heat to chemically change the affected rocks. Pure iron metal precipitates out. Unfortunately, these iron particles may be too fine to be of much use. Guess I’ll just have to find out.
  • Added a lot of information to the Lunar free iron post from the Lunar Sourcebook. I’ve decided to use the Lunar Sourcebook first, before going directly to the sample data. I need to understand exactly what I’m looking for next.
